Gee I don't know if ex staff are Alumni or not. I worked at BB about
1965 to maybe 1968. Mr. Persico was the director - Bob West (he was an
Alumni) was the Assistant - John Hendershot was the Recreation /
Athletic Director. I was primarily an assitant to John H (ran Gym
classes and did some coaching) & also did relief house parent duty.
I was happy to see the write up on the farm and the many great things
going on there.

hey how ru doing george? i was the kid at the 07 alumni. it was an
honor meeting all of you. all of you opened up my eyes and showed me

I enjo***** looking at the Bonnie Brae Web Site,
My two Uncles were at the farm;Jim and Wren
Carmichael and we My Mother and I would go to see them almost every week. I have many fond
memories of my visits to the farm.
My Uncle Wren just retired from his job as the Tax Asesor for Stokes County in North Carolina.
Wren is living in Walnut Cove, North Carolina
at 1095 Carmichael Road.

I long remember the many years of my association with the boys of
Bonnie Brae during my 10 years from 1958 to 1968. I had the opportunity

I was a young boy 15 who was there in the summer of 1846 only. Charlie
Group was the leader. I remember him as a 5'7" tall regular build. I
have alot of memories I like ro talk about. the milking, the cleaning
of the stinking silo, the hay stack fire, swimmimg and sunburn that
landed me in the infirmary for two days, The killing of the chickens
for supper, and the rescue of a newborn calf from the swamp. Also
runnaways as well. |
